Dobwalls A38 Bypass Public Enquiry

GK Audio Visual were asked to provide the A/V services for this enquiry. The 2 basic requirements in the hall were firstly to provide visual displays of information to everyone, and secondly to provide sound reinforcement for all persons speaking so that even the quietest could be heard by one and all.

The 2 video sources were computer presentations and display of legal documents and plans. We provided a laptop on which to load the presentations and for the paper documents we used a Wolfvision visualiser, basically a sophisticated video camera.

An 8ft back-projection screen was provided on the main stage, and a 42" plasma at the back of the hall. This covered the audience. 2 x 19" TFT monitors were also used, 1 for the inspector (as the main screen was behind him out of his view) and the other for the person giving evidence.

Turning now to the sound, we used AKG mics on all the top tables for the fixed positions. To take questions from the audience, we provided a radio mic.

A further requirement for the sound was to relay it out to 4 Portacabins set up in the car park, this was so that staff out there could follow the proceedings and find out legal documents if required.

NHS Surgeons Conference, Headland Hotel, Newquay

This was a standard setup for a conference. A laptop computer linked to an 8ft screen for the showing of approx. 10 presentations, and lectern mics backed up with radio mics for the presenter.

We have been asked back to do the same job for 2007.

Conference at Westpoint, Exeter for Expowest Exhibitions

Again this was a fairly typical seminar job - powerpoint presentations and microphones on the lectern and top table. However there were a couple of extras needed in this instance.

The conference hall had been erected in the middle of an exhibition hall, so there was nothing there at all before we came along. Walls and carpet were erected by the contractors, we provided some staging to lift the presenters up by 30cm.

The other extra, hardly used nowadays, was a 35mm slide projector, as 1 delegate had not yet taken the leap forward to Powerpoint!
